What is the civil war...
The Civil War is a part of our history, it began on April 12, 1861 it ended in the spring time of 1865. The Revolution of 1776 thur 1783 created what the united states is today , the Civil War determined what kind of nation it would turn out to be. This war resolved two questions left unresolved by the Revolution. These two questions are, weather the United States was supposed to be a smooth confederation of unlimited states or an indivisible nation with a absolute national government; and whether this nation, born to a declaration that all men were created equally, would be able to continue as the largest slave holding country in the whole world. Northern victory in the war preserved the United states as one nation and ended the foundation of slavery that had split the country into two from the beginning. The Civil War started because of differences between being free and being a slave. When Abraham Lincoln won the election in 1860 as the first Republican president, he pleded to keep slavery out of the territories, seven slave states in deep south seceded and formed a new nation, which was called the Confederate States of America. Lincoln administration and most of the north people refused to recognize authority of separation. People feared that it would destroy democracy. The thing that created the Civil war came from Fort Sumter in Charles Bay on April 12, 1861. What happened was that Fort Sumter claimed this fort in United States was theirs, the Confederate army opened fire on them, they forced them to lower the American flag in surrender.Four more slave states seceded and joined the Confederacy. By the end of 1861 nearly a million armed men confronted each other along a line stretching 1200 miles from Virginia to Missouri.
